MJF Ln. Alwyn Patrao, true to his name A L W Y N has always been a winner. ‘If God be for me who can be against me?’  He firmly believes in this adage from the Bible.

 

Born into a respectable, God fearing and hospitable family, MJF Ln. Alwyn Patrao is the son of Sri Benedict Patrao and Smt. Benedicta Patrao. He is the second one among 9 children. His 6 brothers and 2 sisters are a source of strength and support to him.  He graduated in Commerce from Vijaya College, Mulky. He obtained his M.Com degree from Karnatak University, Dharwad and M. A. in Political Science from Madurai Kamaraj University.

 

As a youth leader he served as ICYM President at the Church of Our Lady of Remedies, Kirem for 2 terms. He was the President of ICYM of Mangalore Diocese. He has participated in youth conferences at Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore, Phillipines and Hongkong.

 

An exclusive ACC Cement dealer, he is the proprietor of ‘Patrao Associates’ at Pumpwell, Mangalore. He is well respected in the field for his business acumen, sincerity and leadership.

 

He joined Lionism in 1996 as member of the Lions Club of Kinnigoli. He went up the different rungs of the Lionistic Ladder in quick succession - as Secretary 1999-2000, Treasurer 2002-03, President 2003-04, Zone Chairman 2004-05, Region Chairman 2005-06, District Co-ordinator 2006-07 and District Co-ordinator for Retention 2007-08. A dedicated and committed leader, he has won several awards in Lionism

Ln. Alwyn Patrao is the first Roman Catholic to have been elected to the coveted post of  District Governor in the history of  Lions District 324 D5.  MJF Ln.  Alwyn Patrao emerged victorious by being elected as the Vice District Governor for the year 2008-09 with a decisive margin during the elections held on 16th March 2008 at the District Convention. By his humility,  friendly approach and effective leadership, he won everybody’s admiration and was elected as District Governor for the year  2009-10 with 100% endorsement  on 5th April  2009 at the District Convention.

 

He is happily married to Lioness Prabha who is an Officer working at Corporation Bank, Moodbidri Branch. The couple is blessed with a lovable and talented daughter Andrea studying in the VIII Std at Maryvale High School, Kinnigoli.

 

District Governor’s Programmes:

 

 Ln. Alwyn Patrao is a stickler for  punctuality and gives great importance to time.

 

His slogan is ‘’It’s Time Now!

 

 His Programmes for the year – Time Management ,  Innovation,   Mega Service Project,    Education.                       

                                            

The District Project that Ln. Alwyn Patrao intends to undertake during the current year is the reconstruction of  the St. Mary’s Special School at  Kinnigoli. An amount of Rs.25 lakhs has been earmarked from the Lions District funds for the project. Further, he is in the process of  putting up a proposal with the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) for obtaining a Grant  amounting to around Rs.35 lakhs for additional funds for the District Project. This project would go a long way in providing better facilities in St. Mary’s Special School, Kinnigoli  to the differently abled children from places in and around Kinnigoli.

 

The Lionistic year 2009-10 under the able leadership of Ln. Alwyn Patrao is full of innovative and purposeful activities:

 

  • 5 new clubs have been chartered. The Governor’s dream is to charter 12 more new clubs by the end of the lionistic year.

 

  •  He has set a goal to achieve a membership target of  3000 for the District  which will bring the  District in the top ten slot in the Lions Clubs International. As at the end of November 2009,  the Lions District 324 D5 stands 39th out of the 846 lions districts in the world.

       

  • At the District level he has successfully  implemented  the Ifthar and Deepavali Celebrations (Christmas celebrations in the offing), Lions Picnic to Goa, Residential Leadership Workshop, Inter-Region Cricket  / Throwball Match, Mid-term Convention and Mini Award Ceremony.

 

Ln. Alwyn is a committed lion who is calm and composed, humble, honest, reliable and kind-hearted. Very principled and firm in his decisions, he is a meticulous planner, an innovative thinker, an effective organizer and an impressive speaker too.

 

 He has many more plans which he intends to put into action with the support of  each and every member of the Lions family in order to maintain and promote Lionism  in District 324 D5.
