-"We all moan and groan about the loss of the quality of life through the destruction of our ecology, and yet each one of us, in our own little comfortable ways, contributes daily to that destruction. It's time now to awaken in each one of us the respect and attention our beloved mother deserves."-
Quote by actor, environmental supporter, Ed Asner
Today while passing on the main road across the church area, I was puzzled to see a large hoarding on the street side, which stated “Let’s run for a Greener Planet” .
It was about a Marathon arranged by various organizations in the neighborhood. This “run ” seemed quite a novel idea to me. In Kinnigoli we usually run to catch a bus, often to avoid a rushing bus hitting us and we do run for job, money and day to day necessities. Why have we Kinnigolians decided to run for Earth?
Little enlightenment from my friends solved the mystery. I now know that this is a unique step aimed at creating awareness about the need to conserve Earth. I congratulate ICYM Kinnigoli the anchor and all other associations who have joined hand in this noble cause.
Mother Earth has blessed us humans with abundant resources. For ages now she has allowed us to originate, evolve and flourish in her kind and benevolent embrace. We instead of reciprocating our thankfulness have ignored her needs. Reckless plundering and the thoughtless manipulations of her resources have caused pronounced damage to her delicate balance and are pushing her to a threshold where she is likely to deteriorate and loose her poise.
Thanks to our insensitive approach, our children are forced to face a future far less privileged than the one that was inherited to us. It is a matter of immense shame for our generation to hand over a degraded environment, a result of our reckless indulgence. It’s time we wake up and do some damage control. It’s our moral duty to control the damage and pass on a less harsh world to our kids.
It’s heartening to see fellow Kinnigolians taking lead in spreading this awareness. Let’s just hope that this good initiative succeeds in its motive. Though it might not be very wise to assume or analyze immediate benefits of these activities, no one can overstate the need to have more and more such steps to help us realize importance of the issue.
So, fellow Kinnigolians, let’s all join hand in hand in conserving mother earth for our future clan. Let this moment motivate us to realize our responsibility and spread awareness. More importantly let’s try to exhibit our concern about the cause and our zeal to contribute by participating in the Marathon or by being present on the venue.
So may I say, “Run Kinnigoli Run”.

Yes, let us try to leave behind mother nature, as it was given to us by our forefathers.
